    May 11

Anne Haines honored for individual contributions as an ethical business leader by the New Mexico Ethics in Business Awards

Albuquerque, NM (May 11, 2023) Anne Haines is being praised for her ethical leadership by the New Mexico Ethics in Business Awards. The Founder and President/CEO of DreamSpring accepted the PNM Award for Individual Excellence in Ethical Business Practice, in Honor of John Ackerman, at a ceremony presented by CNM on Thursday, April 27, in Albuquerque.

DreamSpring is a Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) and U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) lender with a mission of accelerating economic equity and inclusion. Since launching the organization in Albuquerque in 1994, Anne has steered the nonprofit organization to become one of the highest-performing nonprofit microfinance institutions in the United States — funding nearly 49,000 loans totaling over $538 million to small businesses, who have created and/or sustained an estimated 65,138 jobs across 27 states.

Anne has been recognized locally and nationally for her vision and impact and is the recipient of numerous awards and honors, including leading DreamSpring to win the 2002 New Mexico Ethics in Business Award for nonprofits. DreamSpring has been rated for 11 consecutive years as a four-star organization by Charity Navigator, a distinction that only 3% of rated charities receive, and has twice received the national Access to Capital Award from the Minority Business Development Agency of the U.S. Department of Commerce. DreamSpring carries a platinum level transparency seal with Candid (formerly GuideStar). In 2022, the organization was selected by Fast Company Magazine as one of the World’s Most Innovative Companies.

Anne serves as a member of the National Community Advisory Committee of U.S. Bank, the Microfinance Impact Collaborative of the Aspen Institute, and the Ambassadors of CTEK, an organization devoted to breaking down barriers to entrepreneurship worldwide. Previously, Anne served for six years on the Board of Directors of the Denver Branch of the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City. She has also been an active, passionate resident of Albuquerque for the last 30 years, and is exceedingly proud that her daughters were born and raised here.

“Over the years, so many of the practices we’ve instituted at DreamSpring to foster an ethical organizational culture are a result of seeking out, listening to, and learning from role models in the communities we serve,” says Anne, who was recently profiled in Albuquerque Business First. “I greatly value the public discourse and learning opportunities created by the Ethics in Business Awards program. I am deeply grateful.”
