Empowering Small Businesses with Bank of Texas and DreamSpring

DreamSpring and Bank of Texas joined forces to bolster the bankability of small businesses at The Cannon in Houston on Sept. 29.

The event, “Unlocking the Safe: Empowering Small Business Entrepreneurs to be Bankable,” was a platform for sharing knowledge among a diverse group of entrepreneurs and professionals, providing small business owners with expert advice on what they need to acquire capital.

Bank of Texas’ TC Alexander and Ricardo Alanis shared their insights on the 5 Cs of Credit and how banks determine a client's “bankability.” They also reviewed the documents needed to apply for capital and the types of loan products that are available.

DreamSpring Community Engagement Officer Shaundra Jacobs presented on "What Is a CDFI?” Our session explored the role of Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFIs) and how they can provide support to entrepreneurs who may not be ready for traditional bank financing.

Both organizations offered perspectives on helping entrepreneurs find options to help their businesses grow. Entrepreneurs also shared their challenges and success stories, learning from each other as well as from our panel of presenters.
