    California: The Svane Family Foundation Culture Forward Grant  

    Culture Forward is a $5 million grant initiative by The Svane Family Foundation supporting arts and culture projects that attract families, students, and young professionals to Downtown San Francisco. Grants are open to individual artists, collectives, and arts and culture organizations. 

    Apply by March 1.

    New York: Artadia Awards 

    The Artadia Awards provide financial support, exposures and recognition to artists with unrestricted awards of $15,000 or $25,000 provided to four artists in a different program city each month. This month, artists in New York City are invited to apply. 

    Applications are open March 1 – April 1.

    SCBWI Karen Cushman Late Bloomer Award 

    The Karen Cushman Late Bloomer Award supports unpublished children’s book authors and author-illustrators over the age of 50. The award grants $500 and free tuition to any Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI) conference worldwide. Applicants must be current SCBWI members and may not have been traditionally published or under contract in the children’s book field. 

    Applications open March 1.

    Nevada: FY27 Nevada Project Grants 

    The Fiscal Year 2027 (FY27) Project Grant for Artists from the Nevada Arts Council supports individual artists in the production and/or presentation of artistic projects with up to $3,000 per grant. Must be a Nevada resident.

    Apply by March 2.

    South Carolina: Rural Arts Project Grants 

    These South Carolina Arts Commission grants support nonprofit arts-based projects that engage and strengthen rural communities across South Carolina with funds up to $5,000 (matching requirement varies by county). Funded projects should expand access to the arts, include a public engagement component, and be guided by a local project steering committee. Partnerships between artists, arts organizations, and libraries are encouraged. 

    Apply by March 2.

    South Carolina: Accessibility Grants 

    These South Carolina Arts Commission grants are designed to help South Carolina organizations make arts programs and existing facilities accessible to persons with disabilities by removing accessibility barriers with funds up to $2,500. An accessibility barrier is anything that prevents an individual with a disability from fully accessing a service or fully participating in a program (such as physical/structural, communication, or digital/technology barriers).  

    Apply by March 2.

    California: Kenneth Rainin Foundation New and Experimental Works Grants 

    The NEW Program supports small and mid-size dance, theater and multidisciplinary arts organizations with grants of $5,000 – $30,000 to enable Bay Area artists to produce visionary projects relevant to the communities they serve.  

    Applications are open March 3 – 24.

    California: City of Berkeley Civic Arts Grants for Individual Artist Projects 

    The Civic Arts program supports a culturally vibrant and diverse arts ecosystem within the City of Berkeley by funding grants to artists, arts organizations, and festivals. Individual Artist Project grants support artists living in Berkeley with project-based funding. Projects must include original work created during the Grant Activity Period and a public presentation that engages Berkeley residents in a meaningful way. 

    Apply by March 4.

    NM-CreativeCon-2026

     

     

    New Mexico: NM CreativeCon 

    NM CreativeCon is a statewide, multi-city celebration of New Mexico’s creative community, taking place March through June 2026. Hosted by the New Mexico Economic Development Department’s Creative Industries Division, CreativeCon brings together creative entrepreneurs, community partners, and support organizations from across the state to connect, learn, and share ideas. $15 tickets (plus processing fee) go back to the NMEDD grant fund to support more creative businesses. 

    Register for the March 7 event at Carlsbad’s Cavern Theater.

    Western U.S.: 2026 Native Arts + Heritage Fund  

    Unrestricted $2,500 grants are available to Native American and Alaska Native artists and culture bearers within the Creative West region. The program focuses on cultural continuity and includes a three-month virtual cohort for shared learning.

    Colorado: Founded in FoCo 

    Founded in FoCo, a conference celebrating the entrepreneurial spirit of Fort Collins and Northern Colorado, brings together startups, nonprofits, solopreneurs, creatives, and local leaders for 80+ speakers and sessions. Conference held March 10 – 12 at the Fort Collins Senior Center. Paid admission includes free and sliding-scale options.

    California: City of Berkeley Civic Arts Grants for Community Festivals  

    Grants support one-time or annual festivals and special events that celebrate cultural diversity and build community in Berkeley. Funding is available for both first-time and established events, ranging from small to large scale. Programs must be open to the public and include a free component.

    California: 2026 King Range National Conservation Area Artist in Residence 

    A four-week residency (April 20 – May 18, 2026) is available for one artist to design and create permanent interior murals for the Mal Coombs Park restrooms in Shelter Cove. The program provides local housing, a $50/daily expense allowance, and a gallery show.  

    Apply by March 13.

    New York:  AWP Writer to Writer Mentorship Program 

    This free, year-long leadership training program is for manager-level arts administrators in NYC and surrounding areas, focusing on management, coaching, and influencing skills to prepare participants for future advancement. Attendance at all sessions is mandatory.

    New Mexico: 2026 Roswell Artist-in-Residence (RAiR) Program  

    A one-year residency is available for six artists to focus exclusively on their work. The "Gift of Time" provides a three-bedroom home, a private studio, a monthly stipend, and a materials allowance on a 50-acre compound. Families are welcome.  

    Apply by March 15.

    NEFA National Dance Project Production Grant  

    New England Foundation for the Arts (NEFA) awards grants to  20 dance projects annually through a competitive two-stage application process. Artists/choreographers and/or companies apply to receive a package of support that includes: $45,000 for the creation of a new dance project, $10,000 in general operating support for the artist/company, $10,000 for production residency and/or community engagement plans, and $35,000 to support a U.S. tour of the work. 

    Apply by March 16.

    California: 2026 Berkeley FILM Foundation Documentary Grants 

    Grants ranging from $5,000 – $25,000 are available to student and professional filmmakers in production, post-production, or distribution. Applicants must live or work in Emeryville, Berkeley, Albany, El Cerrito, Richmond, or Oakland. A project sample of up to 10 minutes of edited footage is required. 

    Applications are open March 16 – April 13.

    LIFT Early Career Support for Native Artists 

    This annual Native Arts and Cultures Foundation program supports emerging Native artists with 15 one-year awards to develop and realize new creative projects. The LIFT program provides $15,000 awards along with mentorship, professional development, and project support to help artists refine their practice and advance their careers while uplifting communities and addressing social, cultural, and environmental issues.

    NEA Research Awards 

    The National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) offers two research funding opportunities for nonprofits: Research Grants in the Arts ($20,000 – $100,000) and NEA Research Labs ($100,000 – $300,000). Research Grants support studies on the arts' value and impact, while Research Labs funds transdisciplinary research teams in social and behavioral sciences. There is a 1:1 cost-share/match requirement.  

    Apply by March 23.

    SCBWI Work-In-Progress Award 

    The Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI) Work-In-Progress Award supports children's book writers and illustrators in completing a specific project not yet under contract. Awards are given in categories including Picture Book Text, Chapter Books/Early Readers, Young Adult Fiction, Nonfiction, and Underrepresented Fiction or Nonfiction. Applicants must be current SCBWI members at the time of submission and award announcement.  

    Apply by March 31.

    Publishing Grants for First-Time Authors 

    This annual grant from the Decorative Arts Trust supports first-time authors of book-length publications on American decorative arts and material culture. Grants up to $5,000 are available for authors working on their first book based on completed scholarly research, such as a dissertation or thesis.

    Publishing Grants for Collections, Exhibitions, and Conferences  

    This annual Decorative Arts Trust grant supports book-length publications connected to collections, exhibitions, and conferences that advance scholarship in American decorative arts and material culture. Funding from $5,000 to $50,000 is available for print and digital projects, including catalogues and conference proceedings. 

    Apply by March 31.

    Colorado: Colorado Authors’ Hall of Fame   

    Up to five scholarships worth $17,000 in total value are available to unpublished Colorado authors. Recipients receive a $2,000 grant and a 12-month mentorship focused on publication. Applicants must submit a 1,000-word essay on their goals and fund usage.
